Creamy date butter can be made in any quantity. You can either freeze it or put it in jars. It is one of those recipes that tastes different every time because the ingredients do not necessarily have to be measured. You can also use other dried fruits such as raisins or prunes or ready-made date paste from the Date Bear. You can change the list of spices as you like.

RECIPE: DATE CREAM

A HEALTHY SPREAD

vegan and free from refined sugar

You need:

100g pitted DATTELBÄR dates or DATTELBÄR date paste

2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger newsletter banner

Here's how:

1.Put the dates/finished paste in a saucepan and fill the pan with water so that 2/3 of the dates are covered. Add the lemon juice, cover the pan halfway and bring to the boil.

2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10-30 minutes. The right consistency is achieved when a teaspoon in the middle stands upright.

3. Allow the dates to cool and then blend them in a good blender or food processor until creamy. There may be a few chunks left over.

4. The cream will keep in the fridge for a few weeks and in the freezer for months. This date paste is wonderful on toast, bread rolls or as a cake filling.

We hope you enjoy trying it out.
