Origin
Dates originate from the Middle East, particularly regions such as modern-day Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and North Africa. They have been cultivated for thousands of years and have been a staple food for many cultures. Today, countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Tunisia are also among the largest producers of dates.
date harvest
The date harvest usually takes place in the autumn months, between September and December depending on the region. The harvest is usually done by hand, as date palms grow very tall and the fruit must be handled carefully to avoid damage. After harvesting, the dates are often dried, which extends their shelf life and intensifies their flavor.
